DESIGN BRIEF
The Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is a vital document that outlines the organisation’s actions to strengthen relationships with Indigenous communities. I strived to create a brochure design that reflected the spirit of reconciliation, respect, and cultural celebration.
At the heart of the design were two signature artworks by Indigenous Olympian boxer and artist Paul Fleming and Torres Strait Islander artist David Bosun. Their work symbolises the powerful connection between sport, community, and Country, capturing the essence of shared histories and aspirations. Fleming’s artwork celebrates the energy and passion of sport, while Bosun’s intricate designs pay homage to the land and seas that sustain and unite us.
The brochure design is a 48-page saddle-stitched document, paginated to enhance readability and visual impact. The cover was embossed with a canvas-textured finish, ensuring that the artworks maintained a tactile, natural feel—honouring the raw authenticity of Indigenous storytelling through art. This brochure design reinforces the importance of the Reconciliation Action Plan, not just as a corporate commitment but as a meaningful step toward inclusivity and understanding.
By merging artistic integrity with objective design, this brochure serves as both an informative guide and a tribute to Indigenous heritage, encouraging engagement and dialogue within the organisation and beyond.
The brochure design balances the Australian Team colours of green and gold, adhered to style-guide font use and found ways to complement a contemporary layout with elements from the Indigenous art.
