First Review of Adobe Photoshop’s Generative AI Tool

Well, it’s far from perfect but on first try, I’m impressed and it’s a really useful tool. It will save loads of time when it comes to editing images. But I don’t think it replaces the need for high end retouching.
Adobe Photoshop’s Generative AI tool is seriously impressive. It can fill in backgrounds, extend images, and even generate entire visual elements with just a text prompt — and it does it fast. For quick edits, concept mockups, or sparking creative ideas, it’s a total game-changer. But let’s be clear: it’s not a replacement for high-end image making or professional retouching. Generative AI can sometimes produce soft, inconsistent results, and it lacks the finesse and control needed for commercial-level work. When precision, realism, and brand consistency matter — especially in fashion, advertising, or product photography — nothing beats the skilled eye and manual craftsmanship of a real retoucher or visual artist. AI can assist, but it can’t replace the artistry.
